Jose Padilha to direct 'Elite Squad'

Hollywood Gang on board to produce the thriller

Jose Padilha, who won this year's Golden Bear at Berlin for his Brazilian thriller "Elite Squad," is attached to direct an untitled action thriller at Warner Bros.

Gianni Nunnari and his Hollywood Gang banner also are coming on board to produce the project along with Management 360's Guymon Casady and Darin Friedman

The story, by Jason Keller, revolves around an American Federal agent who goes undercover in South America's dangerous triborder area, described by Nunnari as a modern day Dodge City, trying to dismantle a terrorist funding network. Nunnari brought the director to the project, which was at one point titled "A Willing Patriot."

Management 360 and Hollywood Gang hope to cast the film with a major American star and a major Latin star.

Hollywood Gang's Craig J. Flores will exec produce.

Greg Silverman and Elisha Holmes oversee for Warners.

Hollywood Gang, in production on Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island," recently relocated to Warners, where they have several projects in development, including an adaptation of the Warren Ellis graphic novel "Ocean," Zack Snyder's "Illusions," and Frank Miller's "Ronin" with Sylvain White on board to direct.

Management 360 is developing IRA thriller "The Infiltrator" with Leonardo DiCaprio at Warners.

Padilha is repped by Gersh.
